Disabled Access Surveys

Disable access surveyDDA access audits

Part III of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995, which came into effect on 1 October 2004, means that service providers should make reasonable adjustments to their premises to allow equal access for both able bodied and disabled people.

Access audits are now identified, in the Code of Practice for Part III of the Disabled Disabilities Act 1995 (DDA), as the best tool for the planned improvement of services and premises.

How to comply

As the act takes into account those individuals with sensory or mental disabilities, in addition to physically disabled people, companies may be unaware of the reasonable changes that they can make relatively easily, to comply with this legislation.

At ACS, our disabled access surveys can help and advise you on how to identify what reasonable modifications can be made or if other methods can be used to enable a fair and reasonable service to all.

This can include providing suitable signage and information, and even training to make staff aware of their duties and best practice procedures for serving a disabled person.

To find out more about the disabled access surveys we offer at ACS, or to see how your company could benefit from the help and advice we offer on disabled access, please call now on 01422 370 588 for an informal, no obligation discussion.
