Fire Risk Assessments
Changes to fire safety regulations
From October 2006, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 replaces or combines over 100 pieces of legislation dealing with fire safety.
It is likely that the changed regulations will affect your organisation as it applies to all non-domestic premises.
Duty of care
It places a duty of care on either, or any, combination of; the employer; the occupier; or the owner; as the 'responsible person' to appoint a 'competent person', whose duty it is to carry out a fire risk assessment of:
- The premises
- The operations that are carried out in the premises
- The people who work in the premises
Helping your company to comply
As many small and medium-sized companies do not have the resources to appoint a full time employee to the role of 'competent person', it is acceptable to appoint a third party to complete the Fire Risk Assessment on your behalf.
At ACS, our professional team has the experience and knowledge to act as your 'competent person' and ensure that you comply with the changed Fire Safety regulations.
