How legislation affects you
Although the current regulatory regime concentrates on the impact of developments on the wider water environment, this focus will sharpen once the Water Framework Directive is fully implemented.

In addition, Planning Policy Guidance Note 25 (PPG25) requires that, for sites in or close to a watercourse floodplain, an assessment is made both of the risk of flooding to the development and the impact such development may have on surrounding areas.
