Legionella Risk

Under current COSHH regulation, risk assessments and the adoption of appropriate precautions to prevent Legionellosis are required. The approved code of practice (ACOP), The Prevention or Control of Legionellosis (including Legionnaires’ disease), sets out further statutory requirements for dealing with the risk. We help you meet your responsibilities by identifying and assessing risk sources, preparing preventative measures or schemes, implementing and managing precautions as necessary and keeping records of precautions implemented.

Sampling & Analysis

ACS offers complete sampling and analysis from our lab including comprehensive chemical and microbiological analytics. We are accredited to UKAS, MAFF & NAMAS standards and make use of modern instrumentation and precision analysis as well as standard reference methodologies so you can compare results with industry recognised standards.

Our experts are trained to give you clear, jargon-free information on your results as quickly as possible, so that you have the right information available to make the best decisions for your business. We will inform you on any further action that may be required and, of course, all your results are completely confidential.

Noise Pollution

If noise needs to be controlled in your line of work then in order to comply with new legislation you must know the risks of noise exposure in your workplace. ACS will undertake a noise survey in compliance with the British Occupational Hygiene Society’s M104 module on noise and vibration and we will help you understand whether your noise levels are within permitted guidelines. We will also recommend any remedial action that may be required and help you make the necessary adjustments to your health and safety procedures.

New Legislation – First and second action levels of noise have been reduced by 5dB(A). This is equivalent to fifteen levels of noise.

Responsibility – Employers have a responsibility to ‘eliminate at source or reduce to a minimum’ noise in the workplace. Previously employers only had a duty of care to reduce the level of noise in the workplace to a reasonably practicable level.

Hearing Zone – Employers must provide hearing protection zones where technically possible and justified by the risk of exposure to noise.

Health & Safety Training

There are lots of reasons to ensure that your staff has comprehensive Health and Safety training. In the first case, the safety of people on site must be made a priority. In addition to this, an acute understanding of the issues will make your staff more efficient and less likely to make costly mistakes. From a legal perspective, our Health and Safety training will ensure that your business is compliant with all relevant laws.
